Tata Motors Limited has acquired an additional ~18% equity stake in Freight Commerce Solutions Private Limited (Freight Tiger) through secondary purchase for approximately ₹95.66 crore from existing shareholders including Lightspeed India Partners, Florintree Infra LLP, and founder Swapnil Shah. Post-acquisition, Tata Motors' holding will increase to ~63.6% on a fully diluted basis, making Freight Tiger a subsidiary of the company. Freight Tiger is a Mumbai-based cloud-based Transportation Management System (TMS) and marketplace platform for the logistics industry, founded in 2014. The transaction qualifies as a related party transaction as Freight Tiger was already an associate company, though the deal was conducted on an arm's length basis. The acquisition aims to combine Tata Motors' 'Fleet Edge' connected vehicle platform with Freight Tiger's logistics solutions to create an end-to-end digital ecosystem for the logistics value chain.
This acquisition strengthens Tata Motors' digital logistics offerings and provides strategic synergies by integrating truck technology with freight marketplace services. Freight Tiger's revenues grew 50% year-on-year to ₹26.7 crore in FY25, and becoming a subsidiary will consolidate its financials into Tata Motors.
