Tata Motors Limited has acquired an additional ~18% equity stake in Freight Commerce Solutions Private Limited (Freight Tiger) through secondary purchase from existing shareholders for approximately ₹95.66 crore. The sellers included Lightspeed India Partners I LLC, Florintree Infra LLP, and Mr. Swapnil Shah. Following this acquisition, Tata Motors' holding in Freight Tiger will increase to up to 63.6% on a fully diluted basis, making Freight Tiger a subsidiary of Tata Motors. Freight Tiger is a Mumbai-based logistics technology company providing cloud-based Transportation Management Software (TMS) to corporates and operates a marketplace for fleet owners and logistics service providers. The transaction, completed on May 15, 2026, is classified as a related party transaction but was conducted on an arm's length basis and requires no regulatory approvals.
This acquisition strengthens Tata Motors' digital ecosystem strategy by combining its Fleet Edge connected vehicle platform with Freight Tiger's logistics technology. Shareholders may view this positively as it expands Tata Motors' presence in the commercial vehicle and logistics technology space, with Freight Tiger's revenue growing from ₹17.8 crore in FY24 to ₹26.7 crore in FY25.
