AI is the main business for about 1 in every 258 companies we read.

What this is: how each company describes AI in the opening pages of its latest annual report, sorted by MarketPing's AI into four levels. What it is not: a list of AI stocks, a view on any company, or a measure of how much AI earns. The other 2,783 companies did not bring up AI in the pages we read, which does not mean they do no AI work.

How it is measured

MarketPing's AI read the opening pages (up to 36) of the latest annual report we hold for each company: the overview, the chairman's letter and the highlights. It did not read the whole report. It put each company that spoke of AI at one of four levels, always the lowest level the words support: only mentioned AI (as an idea, a hope or part of the outlook), announced AI plans (committed plans, with little or no AI in use or on sale yet), already uses or sells AI (real AI work today, but not the main business), and AI is the main business.

Every placement rests on a quote from the report that was matched word for word to its page. The two deepest levels were checked a second time: a separate AI read of the quoted words alone, and the stricter answer wins. All 12 at "main business" and 137 of the 138 at "uses or sells" passed it; for 2 companies the second check could not run, so each was placed one level lower. "Announced" and "only mentioned" were not checked a second time.

Reports read 10 Aug to 7 Oct 2026: 3,098 companies (6 more could not be read). The other 2,783 did not bring up AI in those pages, which does not mean they do no AI work. This counts what companies say in their reports, not how much money AI makes for them.
