| Crude oil (Brent, the world price, 1 barrel) | ₹5,462 → ₹9,690, up 77.4% (₹100 → ₹177) |
|---|---|
| US dollar (1 dollar) | ₹89.77 → ₹96.34, up 7.3% (₹100 → ₹107) |

In US dollars, crude oil rose 65.3% ($60.85 to $100.58 a barrel), gold fell 3.2% ($4,325.60 to $4,187.10 an ounce, 31.1 grams) and silver fell 12.8% ($70.13 to $61.17 an ounce). A dollar cost ₹89.77 on 31 Dec and ₹96.34 on 6 Oct, so anything priced in dollars cost 7.3% more in rupees.
What this is: world prices of crude oil, gold and silver, and the dollar rate, turned into rupees on each day. What it is not: the price in Indian shops or at the petrol pump. Prices in India add import duty and taxes, so they differ from these: over the same days, gold funds traded in India rose 10% to 11% and silver funds fell 2% to 3% (31 Dec to 6 Oct). Not a forecast, and not advice.
How it is measured
Each tag compares two closing prices: on 31 Dec 2025, the last trading day of 2025, and on 6 Oct 2026, the latest day all four prices are held. Crude oil is Brent, the world price of a barrel, in US dollars. Gold and silver are world prices in US dollars per ounce (31.1035 grams), shown here per 10 grams and per kilo.
Each is turned into rupees at that day's dollar rate; the dollar tag is the rupees one dollar cost. The ₹100 figure is the new price divided by the old one, times 100, and each tag's length is drawn to it. These are world prices: prices in Indian shops and at petrol pumps add import duty, taxes and other costs, so they differ.
As a check, the gold and silver prices on both dates were matched against gold and silver funds traded in India. This shows what happened to prices. It does not say why, it is not a forecast, and it is not advice.
