Size is a measurement, not a verdict: a big company is not a safe one and a small one is not a risky one.
How it is measured
Market value is the number of shares times the latest closing price, per company, from company filings and exchange closing prices. Each company uses its own latest close inside the 10 trading days to 6 Oct 2026. 5,131 of 5,950 listed companies are included; 629 have no share count on file and 183 no recent price, and 7 were dropped as data faults (a value under 1 crore or above 50 lakh crore). The share count is every share the company has issued, not only the ones that change hands.
Size is a measurement, not a view on any company.
